Power Led Software

PowerLed is an application used to flash and edit the message on the supported LED panels. With the help of the built-in buttons, you can add clocks, text, images, animations, counters, tables, etc. There is also a feature called SYNC that allows you to see the changes in real time. Introducing Vibration Meters from Extech Instruments

Samsung mobile print for mac. I would like to power cycle an USB device through software on Windows.

I am doing development on a small USB power microcontroller. This chip will revert to native behavior on a power cycle and allow a code download. Since my code will crash the device when things go wrong -- making it ignore all USB commands -- I have to physically unplug the device from the system.

I want to do development remotely, and not have to be physically present.

So far I have tried using 'devcon' to disable portions of the USB stack. While this takes the hubs into D3 (should be powered off!), there is still power being supplied to the device.

Are there any preexisting solutions or SetupAPI tricks that might help?

You could do with a hardware relay and controlling it via software: http://pintant.cat/2012/05/12/power-off-usb-device/ (of course, will use 2 USB ports :-) one for the device, one for the relay).

Some USB hubs have the ability to turn power off to its downstream devices.

'Is it possible to power up ports on a USB hub from Ubuntu?' https://askubuntu.com/questions/149242/is-it-possible-to-power-up-ports-on-a-usb-hub-from-ubuntu Which points to some c source for hub-ctrl.c

See: http://www.gniibe.org/development/ac-power-control-by-USB-hub/index

I tested this on Ubuntu with a Dream-Cheeky USB LED unit, and it did seem to turn the power off - although when turned on again, the device had remembered (!) its LED on/off state ??? - This did not happen when I unplugged and repluged the USB lead to the LED..

It looks like someone has looked at compiling this for Windows, but I could not find the result, sorry.

Since it's for development/test instead of production, I'd recommend having a solid-state_relay as part of a second device and using that to cycle the power on the USB connection.

  • We use this method, just power relay instead electricity we cat Vbus cable and insert it in the power relay. I know that there is dedicated USB relays for exactly this purpose, but i assume that they are pricey.
  • 1 Would there already exist USB hubs that power off the devices when the host takes the hub into low power mode? Since this is in a lab environment, using custom hardware will require a uphill battle.
  • i posted the link as separated answer.

There is a simple solution to this on Windows if you buy this external USB hub. It has an undocumented feature that cycles power to all connected USB devices whenever the hub is 'enabled' in Windows Device Manager. You can do this manually:

  1. Run 'Device Manager'
  2. Expand 'Universal Serial Bus controllers'
  3. Open Properties for the appropriate 'Generic USB Hub'
  4. Select the 'Driver' tab
  5. Click the 'Disable' button
  6. Click the 'Enable' button. The hub will briefly disable power output to all 4 of its USB ports, and then enable it again.

You can also do this programmatically from any Windows application that is running with administrator priveledges. Here is an example in C#.

I have successfully used this technique to cycle power to USB devices that were 'locked up'. It sure beats physically unplugging devices, especially on remote or unmanned PCs. Plugins for reaper mac.

Unfortunately, it's not possible on stock PCs.

USB host chipsets do not have the capability to fully power-down. There is some signaling that you can do in USB 2.0 or 3.0 to ask the device to go into a sleep-state, but the port will provide power even when the PC is turned off. (That's so devices like iPods and whatnot can still charge if needed.)

  • 2 This is not correct and depend on specific hardware. There is an option to turn off/on power for root hub sometime you can't do it per port and only for all root hub ports. But you definitely can power down the port

14. LED message center control (net control, multi-screens assigned with dedicated ID).
15. GPRS/CDMA communication supported.

Taking an example of C-Power 2200, to configure the multi-led signs (via RS485), please see below steps:

Part One - Add the led signs and assign the ID to each sign.
1. Refer to the hardware connection diagram we provide, and connect the RS485 communication cables between control PC and led signs.
2. Power on the led signs.
3. Run the software 'LedCenterM', and click 'Setting-Advance-Define LED Screen'.
4. Click 'New'.
5. Input the password '16888'.
6. Select 'C-Power 2200' (if your led sign is featured with other C-Power card, please select accordingly); assign the ID (and name); Choose the width and height, according to your led sign spec; Choose the color according to your led sign spec; Choose the communication type 'RS232/485'; Choose the port according to your control PC.
And click 'OK'.
7. Repeat above steps from '4' to '6' (no password is required again), till all your led signs added and assigned with the ID.

Part Two - Communicate with the led signs.
8. Click 'Tools-Ledtool-C-Power3200/2200'.
9. Click 'Communication' button (the 4th icon on top left).
10. Choose 'Board is on RS485 network', select the related 'port', 'baudrate' and 'ID'. Click OK.
11. Click 'Read' and make sure the led sign is found and in communication.
12. Repeat above steps from '9', till all your led signs are found and in communication.

Part Three - Programme the led signs information, and send to the led signs.
13. Select the led signs you'd programme, and edit the information.
14. Send the information by clicking the button 'Send data' (on the right side).
15. Select the sign you've edit, and 'Send to current'.

Note: You can programme all the signs ready (step 13), and 'Send data' at one time, to all the led signs, or a part of the led signs.

Above tutorial is for the multi-led signs controlled by one led message centre (one Led Center M software control several led signs).
Continue on, we will introduce briefly how to setup the software LedCenterM, if you control only one led sign by the software LedCenterM. The difference in hardware part is the port - RS232 instead of RS485.
Till the step '6', you have exactly the same processes to program it. And since you have only one LED sign, you'd jump the step '7' - no necessary to add more.
And after the step '8' and '9', here there's a little difference - Don't select 'Board is on RS485 network', please see below picture sample:
And then, please go on with the step '11', and program the message you want to show on the led sign.

And note: C-Power 5200, C-Power 4200, C-Power 3200, and C-Power 1200 have the same way of configuration.
Please click here to download the latest version software 'LedCenterM V5.0.9'.
